Analyzing an op-ed news piece . Oklahoma opioid ruling is a very good start

Holly wrote about how Johnson and Johnson have been in a court battle against Oklahoma for two years her opinion is semi like mine, but my opinion is that an addict is an addict yes we have an opiate epidemic. Now is it really the companies fault? If so, McDonalds and any fast food restaurant should be penalized for the obesity epidemic in America. She did state that it is an issue of poor health and mental care. Mental care is the biggest issue in America. Addiction can be anything. I have seen people build up tolerance, and I have seen addiction. Don’t be confused by these terms. For example, if someone had back surgery, and they are using pain pills at times, the body will adapt to that dosage, so they require a stronger long-acting medication. In pain management, long-acting medications should be titrated as needed patients should not be using short-acting or instant release acting pain medications routinely. If they are their, long-acting medication should be increased. The most common addiction I have seen is soccer moms abusing pain medication drinking wine on top of prescription pills. She did state that this ruling does make it hard on the people who have chronic conditions by making it more difficult for them to receive their pain medications. Also, we can avoid this with legalizing THC federally if they want to make big pharma pay; that is the way to kill their business.

What are my feelings about a blog, good and bad?

My good feelings about a blog are that it is something new. I like to try new things. I have always wondered about blogs. I thought that it would be more difficult to have a blog. Creating my blog was essentially easy and I am excited about blogging. My bad feelings about a blog is that this is new and new things can be scary at times. I also am worried about my grammar and punctuation my writing is mediocre. Look forward to learning.

According to Alex Reid, what are the benefits of doing an online blog for a writing class?

Alex Reid states that the benefits of a writing blog is that you have complete creative control. You can create how you feel or how you want. It is not for money it is for own self worth it comes from within a person. It will help you become a professional writer or a better writer and you can find your own style. You can write independantly or as a team.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
